THE BICYCLE FILM FESTIVAL TURNS 10!The BFF, touring 37 cities Worldwide, Celebrates 10 Years of Bicycle Art, Film, & Culturewith Three Days of Events in Chicago February 24-26! CHICAGO(February 2011) – From February 24-26, the Bicycle Film Festival will celebrate its10th Anniversary in Chicago, IL. For three days of events, we invite you to take part in one of themost culturally relevant movements of the past decade- the urban bike movement. The BFF is thrilled to come to Chicago for the fifth year. In tandem with the growth in urbancycling, the BFF has spread all over the world. From its roots in New York City, the festival hasgrown into a multi-faceted, international event traveling to over 40 cities including London, Milan,Tokyo, Minneapolis, Los Angeles, Sydney, Paris and Washington, D.C.In 2001, Founding Director Brendt Barbur was compelled to start the Bicycle Film Festival afterbeing hit by a bus while riding his bike in New York City. Instead of being deterred by thisexperience, it inspired him to create a festival that celebrates the bicycle through music, art, andfilm. Now in its tenth year the festival is held worldwide. Film Screenings in Chicago will beheld Friday and Saturday at Viaduct Theater, 3111 North Western Avenue. Alex Craig) – Presented by UPRISE Skate Shop.Seven professional skateboarders attempt to cycle New Zealand’s North Island in thisbeautiful documentary. They experience the Heaven and Hell of cycling New Zealand whiletraversing the island in search of skate spots.LUCAS BRUNELLE LINE OF SIGHT (Dir. Benny Zenga & Lucas Brunelle) His helmet-camfootage of unsanctioned street races around the globe gives us a unique perspective on thebest urban riders in the world. THE CYCLOCROSS MEETING (Dir. Brian Vernor) Local filmmaker Brian Vernor showcasesthe currently exploding US cyclocross scene, and the emerging Japanese cyclocross scene. EMPIRE (Dir. Christian Thormann & Luke Stiles) The long-awaited urban cycling featurefollowing some of the best riders in New York City.
